IxESN Wageningen organises 'European Dialogue' on May 20th.
The goal of the event is to create more understanding of the recent European developments in various European countries. During the European Dialogue, students will be informed about the European elections, so that they will make a more conscious choice.
Three speakers with different backgrounds will talk about the European Union and how Europe is developing regarding the borders.
- Anton Schuurman
An associate professor at the chair Rural and Environmental History (WUR). He has been teaching for many years on the History of the European Union and on Globalisation. Currently he is writing a book on The Construction of Dutch Agriculture Inc. in the nineteenth century.
- Liping Oerlemans
Member of the political organisation Volt Netherlands, a young and progressive movement for a more decisive and humane Europe.
- Frank Cornelisse
Deputy Director General BETA NL (Bringing Europeans Together Association Netherlands), a new organization part of a broader network that aims to bring European politics closer to students through simulations where students actually experience what it's like to be a politician: MEU's (Model European Unions).
Afterwards, the speakers will ask a question to the students to think about. The discussion will mostly be about the hopes and concerns of students who come from different backgrounds and countries.
